Young Nurses’ Event
From 16th – 22nd May, Nursing Now, in partnership with the World Innovation Summit for Health, the International Council of Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau International, will host a pre-World Health Assembly event for young nurses and midwives in Geneva.
The aim of this event is to help nurses and midwives at the start of their careers to better understand the importance of international health policy and how to influence it. Among key topics to be discussed will be the role of nurses and midwives in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, including Universal Health Coverage.
24 young nurses and midwives, representing the WHO regions, have been selected to attend the Nursing Now Young Nurses’ Event, where they will learn what happens at the World Health Assembly, why it is important and ways to influence outcomes. The young nurses and midwives will have an opportunity to meet with WHO staff and attend the World Health Assembly to listen to debates. Where possible, they will meet the delegations from their own countries, to find out how delegations plan their interventions and how they influence outcomes at the Assembly.
