Brazilian Nursing College launches emergency action project

Nursing professionals at the Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing, a WHO Collaborating Centre,  have created an emergency action project in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this project, people are trained to make face protection masks in order to respond to the current shortages.

In the first phase, with its own financial resources and donations, the group made 618 masks. These were delivered to the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions, as well as their caregivers and family members.

In order to expand its reach, the project has received financial support from the Ribeirão Preto College of NursingCulture and Community Service Commission and intends to produce more than a thousand masks. The masks will be distributed in partnership with the Municipal Health Secretariat of Ribeirão Preto for identification, evaluation, and supply to the most vulnerable.
