FAIMER Institute opens admissions for fellowship in health professions education

Applications for the 2020 FAIMER Institute are open and will close on 5th September 2019. 

The Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) is a non- profit foundation of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG®), committed to improving world health through education. In partnership with ECFMG, FAIMER promotes excellence in health professions education through programmatic and research activities. 

The FAIMER Institute, established in 2001, is a part-time two-year Fellowship program in health professions education for international health professions educators. Structured as a blended program, the FAIMER Institute is comprised of onsite residential sessions in Philadelphia and an online component at the participants’ home institutions. 

The FAIMER Institute integrates knowledge, skills, and cultural sensitivity through interactive, appreciative, strengths-based approaches in five curriculum themes: a) Project Management and Evaluation to design and implement education innovation projects that respond to the societal and institutional needs; b) Education Methods to acquire expertise in health professions education; c) Leadership and Management to lead positive, potentially transformational change and build a global community of practice beyond the fellowship years; d) Research and Scholarship to contribute to the field of health professions education through education research and scholarship; and e)  Quality Assurance to contribute to the FAIMER community of practice for quality assurance in health professions education.
