Criteria for national and regional Nursing Now groups

There can only be one national group per country.

Groups are asked to familiarize themselves with the vision and aims of Nursing Now.

National and Regional groups must seek the support of the Government Chief Nursing Officer (or the most senior nurse working at Government level); the National Nursing Association; the WHO country representative or the relevant WHO Regional office and the WHO Nursing and Midwifery Collaborating Centre where one exists in your area.

National and Regional groups must include non-nurses for example, policy-makers, doctors and other health professionals.

Young nurses (students and recently qualified nurses) should be encouraged to participate  in the campaign as well as the Nursing Now group structure

National and regional groups must sign an agreement with the Burdett Trust for Nursing to complete the formal registration process. The agreement stipulates the groups’ role in the campaign and outlines the rules governing the appropriate use of the Nursing Now name and logo.

National and regional groups must provide contact details for the group’s primary coordinator which will be published on the group page of the campaign website.

Criteria for local Nursing Now groups

If you are setting up a local Nursing Now group in your organisation (University, NGO, student group), country, town or village, or holding a launch or other event please use the campaign material that you can find here.

With the campaign materials as guidance, local groups are encouraged by the global campaign to commence activities as soon as possible. There is no approval process.

There is no limit to the number of local groups that can be set up. Local groups are encouraged to support the national group where one exists. Local Groups are not required to sign a formal agreement with the Burdett Trust.

Group requirements

All national and regional groups will be requested to provide a short progress activity report on a quarterly basis. The group coordinators should  keep their groups informed about local groups and their activities.
