Manipal College of Nursing holds webinar series to discuss the impact of COVID-19 & strategies for mitigation.

Now more than ever it is essential to have an open line of communication with international partners, to share ideas and best practices to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to facilitate this exchange, the Manipal College of Nursing held a series of ten interactive webinars that gathered almost 4,000 participants.

This series of webinars was launched last month by Dr H Vinod Bhat, the Vice-Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). Dr Bhat highlighted the important role of MAHE in bridging the gaps between students, and healthcare professionals to develop innovative strategies to curb the impact of the novel COVID-19 on our society. Manipal was honored to have Dr Roy K George, President of the Trained Nurses Association of India present for this first webinar, during which he gave a keynote address, stating the importance of working towards health care sustainability through an innovative approach and collaborative practice as well as building employment for nurses to achieve and maintain the Sustainable Development Goals.

Dr Anice George, professor, and Dean, and the organising chairperson of this virtual series delivered the presidential address highlighting the significant efforts of the Manipal College of Nursing to support the nursing profession. She spoke of the remarkable contributions made by the profession and addressed the urgent need for nursing leadership and carefully planned activities to manage the continuing COVID-19 outbreak.
