Methodist Hospital

I have 51 nurses under the age of 35 that are involved in formalized training in partnership with the American Academy of Critical Care Nursing and system Leadership and Organizational Development. The training is structured and designed to equip emerging leaders with the skills to effectively execute strategy, drive operational execution and lead others. There are several programs that begin with young nurses to provide fundamental supervisory skills, how to lead and effect change at the bedside, and offers opportunities to shadow leaders in various roles within the hospital setting.

In response to COVID-19:

  • What are the main challenges your nurses are facing right now? Not able to work all their hours due to lower volumes, fear of caring for the COVID patient., PPE supplies.
  • How are you overcoming these challenges? We are training staff up a level of care in case of surge, universal masking.
  • How are your nurses adapting? Feeling supported.
