20 nurses and midwives have been enrolled in the leadership development programme.
Lesotho has approximately 1,8 million population according to the 2016 census. The country has high maternal mortality rate of 1,024/100,000 as stated in the DHS 2014. And the rate at which women die while giving birth is alarming, hence there is need to train young nurses and midwives in leadership so that they can be in a position to advocate and negotiate on their behalf and on behalf of the women within the child bearing age, to get quality maternal services which are provided within conducive work environment by the motivated, well trained midwives .
