The Office of the Chief Nurse in Jamaica is hosting the country’s launch of the Nursing Now campaign. The meeting’s theme is “Nurses: Echoing the Silent Cry of Women and Children, to end violence”. The theme stems from a project started by a local nurses advocacy group associated with the “Orange Day Campaign”, which is aimed at raising awareness and ending violence against women and girls. They conduct marches on a monthly basis.
Building on this theme, Jamaica’s national Nursing Now project will focus on training of nurses to identify victims of violence against women and children, among other strategies. The launch event will highlight achievements in Jamaican nursing over the last 10 years and unveil the name of the country’s Nursing Now project.
