Leadership and development

Aim: to promote the influence of nursing within countries and organisations, ensuring that there are senior nurses in positions to influence policy, and supporting the development of nurses to be able to take on these roles successfully.

1. Advocating for the inclusion of nurses in policy making and for all relevant global organisations to have senior nurses who can influence policy and decision making
2. Supporting the WHO Chief Nursing Officer in the development and execution of her role globally
3. Supporting regions and countries in their advocacy for the development of senior nursing roles and the engagement of nurses in policy making and planning
4. Working with the ICN and other partners on the development of their senior leadership programmes and helping develop links between these programmes and their alumna
5. Supporting development programmes for nurses globally through the IHI Open School and other routes
